MTÜ Meistrite Hoov / Master’s Courtyard is located in the heart of historical old town of Tallinn, Vene Str. 6. First written mention of this property dates back to 1371 and this courtyard has had many different owners and served many different purposes over the last 7 centuries. 1993 the Master’s Courtyard Non-profit Organisation (MTÜ – Mittetulundusühing Meistrite Hoov) was founded with the objective to restore and rebuild the severly deteriorating property and turn it into an artisans quarter with workshops, galleries and exhibition halls. It took almost 20 years to finish the project, as our goal was to preserve and exhibit every historical detail of this property.

Today, Masters’ Courtyard has become a well known attraction for both locals and visitors. There are 11 different shops selling only the products made by the local masters and artists. In some of them you can observe/ learn the techniques of their craft and order custom made products. In the courtyard’s property there are also a cosy Guesthouse “Villa Hortensia” with 6 rooms, each with kitchenette and privte bathroom and one of the most popular chocolateries in town – Chocolaterie Pierre – with their hand made truffles, cakes and variety of excellent coffees. You can see and feel the historical atmosphere in every building and enjoy Live music during sunny summer evenings in the garden.
