Imaginary Gardens

Adventure | Discovery | Inspiration | Relaxation

Let yourselves be guided through an unusual way to experience the Murgia plateau of Matera: Mimma has prototyped a 3-hours experience that will allow you to explore the outer environment and your inner nature at the same time.

Imaginary gardens belongs to her bigger project Treelosophy and it’s a walk in nature with (at least) three different purposes: to recreate oneself by walking in close contact with the natural environment, to know the basics of botany and to experiment the most used learning method by naturalists: drawing.

How many times have you gone on a hike and taken pictures of trees, flowers, plants, views? This takes less than seconds, which is good to keep digital memories. But how many real memories are you able to retain then?

In Mimma’s hike you are asked to observe and take your time to represent what you see and want to remember. No particular skills are required, although you will find out you have skills that you couldn’t imagine.

Imaginary gardens is a transformative experience because it lets you bring home a new competence - drawing - and helps bring it to light again in case you had it and lost it, spoiled by the constant use of the digital.

It also educates on the existence and importance of biodiversity, sometimes focusing the attention on the smallest living organisms.

Diversity is beauty and beauty is in the details, which can be better grasped if we make an effort to make a representation that involves all of our senses, and even some muscles!

So are you ready to turn off your mobile for a while and let yourself be guided by Mimma’s Treelosophy?
