Tabačka Kulturfabrik is a unique multifunctional center and an open zone for art, creativity, and cooperation in Košice. Communities that go to Tabačka Kulturfabrik are very diverse, but they share a passion for an urban lifestyle – it is no ordinary cultural center, they support young entrepreneurs, rent out coworking spaces, and connect successful local businesses.

It was founded back in 2009 by Peter Radkoff and a team of collaborators from the civic association Bona Fide in an abandoned former tobacco factory. In one of the buildings, they created an alternative cultural space which is now known as the “Old Tabačka” or Fabricafé.

They have since expanded and become the largest independent cultural center in Slovakia. As a result, their program possibilities have also significantly expanded. Tabačka has become a space for the presentation and production of various genres of contemporary art. From concerts, theater performances, dance art, new circus, exhibitions, multicultural events, interactive installations to workshops, lectures, and a range of community activities. They also support initiatives from various areas of the creative industry and it has become a workspace for the community of young entrepreneurs.

It’s also a place where new art forms thrive. It significantly contributes to the development of Košice’s independent scene, particularly in the field of media art. Through their multimedia exhibitions, they introduce topics on the border of art and science, life, and cybernetics in Košice.
