Fine and small art world without ticket:  The studio Claudia Quick…

From the outside, the studio of the artist Claudia Quick seems quite inconspicuous – there is a shop window front, and a courtyard entrance that hardly stands out from the neighbourhood. The external appearance is rather modest, just like the artist herself. Yet, a creative heart pulsates in Humboldtstr. 47 a in Dortmund. Studio, gallery, workshop or creative playground besides big museums collection – if you are interested in art, you will find a creative home here.

Claudia Quick has set up a studio and a gallery in a house in the inner courtyard. There, she works on her own works of fine art or installations, but also opens up space for guest artists. Under the “Kunstort Ruhr” heading, regional artists and international figures can showcase their work.

Some of the areas on the ground floor of the complex, unfold a magical aura with their lighting, especially in the evening hours.  These include a studio, with sculptures and temporary video installations such as “Buddha – the Touch” by internationally renowned media artist André Chi Sing Yuen (see also https://www.facebook.com/watchparty/333171741326945) are waiting to be discovered.

There is also a shop on the street that Claudia shares with Andrea Heber, who runs an insurance shop there herself. This offers further space to present art.

The genres are diverse, mainly contemporary, but high quality is always a must. The fact that different styles meet here is particularly appealing. For instance, the media artist mentioned before, André, had an exhibition at the same time as the gifted draughtsman Andreas Nossmann. Besides the exhibitions and corresponding tours about the artists’ works, Claudia Quick studio offers a selected cultural programme. As one of the few locations of the independent scene, this arrangement also made her a partner and host of the Dortmund Museum Night (see https://www.dortmund.de/de/freizeit_und_kultur/museen/museumsnacht/start_museumsnacht/index.html or https://www.facebook.com/domuseumsnacht).

In addition, groups have the opportunity to book workshops or art events.  For this, Claudia Quick and Andrea work hand in hand – under the label ART.Event Team (https://art-event-team.de ) they offer a lively art programme that motivates and inspires participants to become creative themselves. Have you ever tried an art performance or action painting? Call or simply write an email: Group dates are available on request.

The rooms in the cosy clinic quarter are within 10 minutes walking distance from Dortmund city centre. On the way you should keep your eyes open, because there are creative things to discover everywhere. Various agencies, architects, cultural providers and creative designers have their headquarters there. For example, the Fletch Bizzel theatre(https://www.fletch-bizzel.de) is Claudia’s direct neighbour. Check out their calendar, and plan your own creative break!
