Be it with a trike plane, balloons, sports or microlight aircraft, or with a helicopter. A sightseeing flight in the historic "Red Baron" biplane is always recommended. Those who prefer to keep their feet on the ground after all this can let off steam in the Zollverein Colliery The world's largest coal mine in industrial times, Zeche Zollverein combines sport and culture. In summer there is an exceptional swimming pool within the spectacular industrial architecture as a backdrop, and in winter you’ll find a special ice rink. If you get tired after a hard day's work, simply use the largest freestanding escalator in Germany. It takes you one and a half minutes to climb the 24 metres in altitude to the former coal washing plant. Inaugurated in 2006, the gigantic escalator is the absolute eye-catcher in this World Heritage site, along with the characteristic twin-boom pithead tower - especially in the evening, when the sides and steps are illuminated in orange and red: https://www.zollverein.de
